Why accept payments directly in the chat with a bot?

In our overloaded digital world, every extra step in the purchasing process can become an obstacle for the client. This is especially true for “warm” leads—those potential customers who are already interested in a product or service. If, at that critical, literally precious moment, the client is forced to leave the bot chat and navigate to external websites or applications to complete the payment, then:

  • They may cool off due to the delay
  • They might simply lose motivation;
  • They may begin to harbor, albeit unfounded, doubts about security (what if something gets leaked during the transition).
  • And these are not just idle thoughts. Statistics back this up.

    According to the Baymard Institute, up to 70% of users might abandon their shopping carts due to a complicated checkout process;

  • Implementing integrated payment can boost conversion by up to 40%;

  • Payment directly in the chat accelerates the purchase process by 20–30%, which is especially important for “warm” leads making decisions on the fly. Fewer steps to payment mean more quick transactions;

  • Improved customer experience—research shows that more than 73% of consumers prefer making purchases via integrated solutions.

Domino CRM, of course, allows you to redirect the user to a separate resource for making a payment. However, we still advise that it’s better to integrate both the catalog and the payment directly into the “body” of the chatbot scenario. To that end, our builder includes nodes for both the catalog and payment.

Here’s how this can look in practice. First, add a catalog of goods and services, and then store the client’s selection in the variable order.

Then, add the payment block.

All you need is an account with one of the available payment systems. This way, everything happens conveniently and, as they say, literally seamlessly!
