Paying with Telegram Stars in a Domino CRM Chatbot

Paying with Telegram Stars, Telegram’s internal currency convertible to TON, can be a great option for your business if you work with digital goods and services. It is convenient, fast, and dependable.

Naturally, the Domino CRM team could not pass by this trend, as our mission is to meet business needs across the entire chain with the help of chatbots. If you have decided to integrate Stars payments in Telegram into your workflows, our chat builder is at your service: whether you work in the info business or entertainment, monetize access to paid groups and bots, or offer educational or motivational services, this is an excellent option for you!

How to Set Up Telegram Stars Payments in Your Bot

We have previously covered integrating classic fiat payment systems in Domino CRM using the Payment node. The same node works for Stars as well, with a few minor differences. Here is how to set up Stars payments in our chatbot builder.

1. Showcase what you offer. If you have a limited product line, you can display it using a text block and quick-reply buttons. Each button then links to the corresponding payment node. Inside the payment node, select the Stars option and set the price manually. In the example below, we have set three price points for different packages, but your Stars payment setup could have either a single level, or as many as ten.

2. Use the catalog for larger assortments. If your assortment exceeds a certain size, it would be better to start from the catalog node and lead from there to the Stars payment in Telegram. In the catalog, specify the number of Stars for each item. Then connect the flow to the Stars payment block in your Telegram bot. If you configure variables correctly, the Star amount will be pulled automatically from them.

3. Combining Stars and fiat payments. A common question is whether you can offer both Stars payments and standard fiat payments via familiar payment systems. The answer is yes — but not within the same block. Simply branch your flow.

For example, add a text block with something like: 'Which do you prefer — Stripe or paying with Stars in Telegram?' Then add two corresponding buttons, each leading to its own branch.

Since the Stars exchange rate in Telegram varies and is not automatically tied to a specific currency, you will need to set up two separate catalogs, one with fiat prices and one with Star prices. An example of the initial setup is shown below.

Paying with Stars in your Telegram bot is an excellent choice if you are having issues with a payment system, or simply do not want to set one up at all. Keep this option in mind when building your chatbot with Domino CRM!

P.S. Just to reiterate: Stars are intended for paying for digital content, not for physical goods.
